# Car rental for taxi: the system counts rental days, not a notebook

The fleet rents cars to Yandex Go, Uber, and DiDi drivers — and lives by a daily rhythm: hand over, charge, collect, remind. fleeTau runs this rhythm itself: rental agreement, handover, a charge every 24 hours, balances due and traffic fines. The manager decides who gets a car and when to take it back — the rest is calculated without them.

Mechanics

## The rental day starts at handover, not at midnight

The unit of charging is 24 hours from the moment of handover. Hand a car over on Tuesday at 14:30 — the charge arrives every day at 14:30, for the day just passed. Partial rental days do not exist: a day has either accumulated in full or not yet, so there is nothing to argue about the "day of handover".

The weekly rate is expressed as a daily one: 84,000 ₸ per week is 12,000 ₸ per rental day. The math adds up, the dispute over a partial week disappears, and the driver pays the way they are used to — once a week or more often: a payment settles charges from oldest to newest.

- **Pricing** — a 24-hour rental day from the moment of handover
- **First charge** — 24 hours after handover, for the day just passed — postpaid
- **Overdue** — 24 hours after the charge; the clock does not stop meanwhile
- **Late fee** — not charged: overdue marks the day, the decision stays with the fleet
- **Deposit** — taken once at handover and recorded separately from the rent

## The car is held by the handover, not by a line in the agreement

A car is occupied because it is physically in the driver's hands, not because the agreement has an "active" status. While a charging period is open, the car cannot be handed over to a second driver — this is forbidden at the data level, not by a memo to the manager. The agreement has gone overdue — the car is still assigned to whoever has it parked in their yard.

Two events stop the clock: the return record and a manual pause. A pause without a reason is forbidden — a month later nobody will remember why a car ran no charges for three days. A replacement car is a new period of the same agreement: the driver signs nothing again, and the history remembers exactly who drove what.

## Overdue shows up a day later — and does not turn into a fight

If the balance falls short, whatever is there is deducted and the rest becomes balance due: with a charge of 12,000 ₸ and a balance of 3,000 ₸, 3,000 is deducted and 9,000 remains due. After 24 hours the unpaid rental day is marked overdue, the driver gets a reminder, and the fleet sees it on the "Balances due" screen — sorted by the number of overdue days, not alphabetically.

A driver who handed over cash in the evening does not become overdue by midnight: they mark "cash handed over" in the workspace, and that rental day does not go overdue until the cashier verifies it. The claim does not settle the balance due — only the cash desk changes the balance.

## A traffic fine finds the person who was at the wheel

A road police fine is entered by its resolution number: the article, the moment of the violation, the amount, the discounted-payment deadline. Who was at the wheel at that moment, the system determines from the log of rental periods — it is accurate to the minute of handover and return, so the matching requires no investigation.

A fine re-billed to the driver joins the same settlement queue as rental days — from oldest to newest. The discount deadline is a matter between the fleet and the state; it does not complicate the driver's balance due to the fleet.

Driver workspace

## The driver does not need to call to learn their balance due

The workspace opens via the fleet's link, with no app to install, and works on any phone. Inside are the terms the driver confirmed themselves (the rental starts with that confirmation: without it the car cannot be handed over), their car, the balance due by rental day, and traffic fines with resolution numbers.

What the workspace does not contain matters too: the driver does not see who owns the car and does not see the fleet's economics. The client base and the partner terms remain the fleet's business.

Money

## Money goes to the fleet directly — we count it, not hold it

The driver pays the way the whole market pays — in cash or by transfer. The cashier records the payment, specifying the legal entity and the income channel: a fleet may have several, and the revenue of an individual entrepreneur does not mix with the revenue of an LLP. Rental money does not pass through fleeTau accounts, and neither do card details.

The fleeTau subscription is billed per active car — those handed over at least once in the current month. A car that sat idle for a month does not enter the bill, and a partial month is billed by actual days. The first three cars are free on any plan.

Questions

## What people usually ask

### Does it work for cars rented out for Yandex Taxi?

Yes. Weekly rental to ride-hailing drivers is one of the two types the product started with and that work today. Which platform dispatches the orders does not matter to the system: it manages the rental of the car, not the orders. fleeTau is neither a taxi fleet nor a ride-hailing platform: the cars are rented out by your fleet.

### The driver pays once a week, but charges are daily — won't we get confused?

No. The weekly rate is set as a daily one: 84,000 ₸ per week is 12,000 ₸ per rental day. A weekly payment settles seven charges from oldest to newest; bring more — the remainder stays on the balance and goes toward the next rental day. A separate notion of "overpayment" is not needed.

### What do we do when a driver stops paying?

The system marks the overdue rental days, sends a reminder, and moves the driver up the "Balances due" screen. There is no late fee and no automatic blocking: taking the car back is a human decision. While the car stays with the driver, charges continue — it is occupied and earns nothing from anyone else.

### Do we need a GPS tracker or telematics?

No. The product works without equipment in the car: the moments of handover and return are recorded with photo records, and those are exactly what determines when charges run and who answers for a traffic fine.
